Personal Injury Lawyers Serving Victims in Hoquiam, Washington
We love Hoquiam. Although our clients and friends there assure us that it is simply a fine place to live and work, we know it as a fine place to visit. The Grays Harbor Farmers Market is an excellent place to shop for fresh produce out of season, while the cultural offerings at the 7th Street Theatre – as well as local festivals, such as Riverfest and the Logger’s Playday – make Hoquiam worth the trip any time of year.
Like anywhere else, however, not all is sunshine and roses. Sometimes, an unexpected accident will hit with all the speed and force of a hurricane, turning your life upside down in a moment. In the midst of your pain and shock, you may also be dealing with financial problems – mounting medical bills, lost work time, and evasive behavior from someone who caused your accident through his or her own carelessness. This is the point where top-tier personal injury lawyers come in handy.
We understand that every case is different and that every client comes to us with unique concerns. We will clearly explain your legal options to you and let you call the shots while we do all the work. We will do more than simply help you pursue your claim – we will help you obtain the best medical care available. We will also navigate the complex insurance system to help you get your bills paid, now and in the future, so that you can concentrate fully on physical and emotional recovery.
None of this will cost you a dime up front – we get paid when you do, in proportion to the settlement or verdict we are able to secure for you. Put simply, if you don’t win, we don’t get paid. We’re more than confident in our ability to secure justice for you.
We Get Results
The family of Zachary Springer certainly understands the value of our services. Ms. Springer came to us after her teenage son Zachary died in a tragic jet-ski accident, and her previous lawyer had advised her that her wrongful death claim was not worth pursuing because no insurance would cover a verdict. We devised a way to file a claim under the homeowner’s insurance policy of the owner of the jet-ski and ended up recovering $2.5 million.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In which court should I file a lawsuit?
The location of your injury lawsuit is determined by the rules of venue. A personal injury lawyer file may file a lawsuit where:
- The injury occurred
- The defendant resides
- The defendant has appointed a registered agent or does business (if the defendant is a corporation)
- The plaintiff resides (sometimes)
My child was injured. Can a lawsuit be filed in his or her name?
A minor under 18 may not file a lawsuit in his or her own name. Instead, the court must appoint a guardian to file the lawsuit on the minor’s behalf. In most cases, the court will appoint a parent as guardian.
What kinds of damages are available?
Two main types of damages are available in a personal injury lawsuit:
- Economic damages – Easily quantifiable damages, such as medical expenses.
- Non-economic damages – Intangible damages, such as pain and suffering.
In most states, punitive damages (used to punish the defendant) are available. Washington, however, is one of only a few states that does not allow punitive damages in civil actions such as lawsuits.
Can I sue the county, city, or state government?
Yes, you can in most cases. The procedures is different, however. Before you file a lawsuit, you must first file a claim directly with the government that you intend to sue. You must then wait 60 days before filing a lawsuit, during which time the government can issue you a settlement offer.
What If I’m Bitten by a Dog?
Serious dog attacks in Hoquiam happen quite often. The city of Hoquiam has been the site of many cases where owners have been sued for failing to properly control dogs that have gone on to attack people.
Dog attacks happen all too frequently in Washington State and throughout the country. The Insurance Information Institute reports that homeowners’ insurance claims in 2020 for dog bites and dog attacks amounted to $854 million in liability claims.
Washington State law is very clear about the liability of dog owners. If a dog attacks someone and bites them, the dog owner is responsible for the injuries. But if there are dogs that have a history of violent attacks, Hoquiam’s animal control officer has to designate the dog as a “dangerous dog” under the municipal code. When this happens, the animal control officer is responsible for dealing with the dog.
Dog attacks can cause injuries that could require months or even years of treatment. Sometimes, the injuries require surgery to repair. When there are dog bites that cause permanent scarring, many victims have to undergo plastic surgery to make their scars less unsightly. In many of these cases, the victims are young children. Their faces are more prone to be bitten given their height. And unfortunately, young children make up a large percentage of dog attack related fatalities at 26 percent.
